A Walk to Tavernelle

I had Saturday all to myself. It was another hot day but a breeze made it somewhat bearable. I decided to take a walk that evening to Tavernelle. Cindy had pointed out that a walking path had been built since our last visit here and it connected Barberino to Tavernelle. The photos I have posted here were taken during my walk. I wandered through an olive grove/field and found dirt paths that lead in every direction. I ran into an old man with no teeth and he stopped and said something in Italian really fast and all I could say is that I was an American and spoke no Italian. He was very friendly and said Ciao…that part I got!
On the way home I noticed a campground just outside Barberino full of people and a band playing the typical Italian instrumental music. Folks were dancing and there was a make-shift pizzeria in the background packed with people. I listened for while then made my way back to my flat. I opened my windows and could hear the music until well past midnight. When it stopped, I could hear all the people returning home, laughing and probably a little drunk! Maybe I will stay longer next weekend…I understand this happens every Saturday night in the summer.
I am planning a trip to Rome this week. I am a little nervous about the train/bus thing but I will figure it out. Cindy advised that I catch a bus to Pongibonsi (forgive my spelling on that one please) and then a train to Florence then Florence to Rome. This may be an overnight trip as trains and buses do not run into the late evening…guess I will just have to wing that one! Ciao ciao!!

Sounds like you're having a marvelous time, dear. Don't believe the Charltons. That walkway sounds like a great way to exercise and see the area. Be safe and have fun!

Hey Lady,
Love the posts - I am totally kicking myself that I didn't save out enough cash from the VP to come and visit you during this time. Everything you are describing sounds incredibly cool!

Yes - I have read it - it is great, very entertaining and interesting. Antoinette would like to read it - may I share with her? Would you be offended if I added comments, thoughts, ideas and corrected some of the grammar? I thought of a way for your "dad" to get into the book - retired cop that becomes a love interested for Gramma! Gramma falls for him and moves out before she gets home - suprise at the end of the story. (Brief mention, but could be included.....)

Checked in with Dave - the dogs are still alive and so is he!

Luv ya,
Ang

For everyone that wants to come Italy, I think we ALL should, in two years. Stay at Il Palchetto and see the sites! This is totally workable people! Just buy some lottery tickets and stop paying taxes!
